"Because sometimes the road to excellence requires a helping hand" Supporting: Resiliency, Recovery, & Re-transition
The Pathway Home Program is a Residential Recovery program specifically created for, and dedicated to serve, our Nation’s “New Warriors”—those of any age, who have served our Nation’s Global War on Terror in areas of the world such as Afghanistan and Iraq. Our New Warriors have survived the stressors of war, but may find themselves experiencing problems that are “getting in the way” of their post-deployment functioning. The Pathway Program can help to address those problems and maximize each Warrior’s mental and physical heath, coping, resiliency, and overall functioning-whether that is post-deployment, or to re-deployment, or civilian status.
The Pathway Home is a true community where we band together to embrace and assist our Warriors (who we think of as Members). Our Mission is to provide the respect, guidance, and support that each Warrior needs to rebound from combat or other challenging military experiences.
What is the Goal of the The Pathway Home Program? The goal of The Pathway Home is to provide a comprehensive program of treatment and support for its Warriors (Members) so that each one can continue to Recover from the stressors of war or combat or other traumatic military-related stressors. The Pathway Home Program is a place where each warrior can: Capitalize on Resiliency; Re-new and Extend the many Strengths developed during one’s military training, experiences, and career; Strengthen Coping Skills; Strengthen Relationships with self, others, and family members, and; work toward meeting the challenges of transitions to post-deployment, re-deployment, or to civilian life.
We offer a beautiful, tranquil residential environment in the Napa Valley, CA “Wine Country. Because we are located on the grounds of The Veterans Home of California - Yountville http://www.cdva.ca.gov/homes/yountville.aspx, we can also offer a variety of “free time” and recreational activities (e.g. swimming pool, bowling lanes, golf course, fitness center, base exchange store, chapel, and coffee shop).
The Pathway Home began with the concern of our Benefactors that the post-deployment needs of our New Warriors were not being met fully by existing programs or services- (governmental or otherwise). The Benefactors wanted to create a program that would be a Center of Excellence for the contemporary care of these Warriors---a Center that would provide a comprehensive and state-of-the-art approach to the often complex medical, physical, psychological, spiritual, and transitional issues facing these combatants.
Our benefactors approached the Tides Foundation and The California Veterans Home - Yountville with their concept. After reviewing and visiting a number of treatment programs and recruiting an Executive Director, Tides and The California Veterans Home - Yountville co-facilitated the development of The California Transition Center for Combat Veterans-The Pathway Home. The Pathway Home is located on the grounds of The California Veterans Home - Yountville.
We feel privileged to Welcome Warriors (Active Duty, Reserve, and Guard) who have experienced combat-related or other traumatic military stressors and who are experiencing symptoms and problems that are having a negative impact on their life and functioning.
At The Pathway Home we provide residential treatment program for combat-related stress or other military-related stressors. We provide a variety of treatments---all done in a group format, lead by health care professionals --- in which each Warrior is supported by the community of other Warfighters. Each Warfighter plays an important part in working with the staff to develop his/her Individualized Treatment Plan to address symptoms, functioning, and transition issues.
